You and I my friend, we were made for more.

This life

This place

These tasks

This plan

You and I were made for more.

He crafted our lives, built our beings, instructed our paths; and planned for more.

He put us in this world, showed us others in need, gave us free will; and planned for more.

He loved us with a fierce love, gave us everything we have, gave us the ability to dream; and planned for more.

You and I, we were made for more.

Yet we are overwhelmed.

We become distracted, and feel helpless.

Its too much! We proclaim in protest.

Choosing instead to step aside.

To sink when we were built to swim.

The angry pull downward, water pushing out air, filling lungs.

This place it seems was built to take us under.

Weren’t we made for more?

Why then all this toiling?

What’s the point?

We finally ask in protest, in disgust.

Yet the suffering world still remains.

Still needs.

“But you just feed 5000 people?” They say to him as he walks away, choosing to go be alone and pray, choosing to leave them behind. “We were just getting ready to crown you our new King”

Its just like him though, choosing the ones who really loved him over a stadium full of people who kind of want to follow.

He had no interest at all in the lukewarm.

And there it is, the reason we choose to keep going.

The sum of the fight inside us.

We choose to follow.

To take up our crosses.

To continue on.

Because we want to be part of the few.

We want to be on that narrow road.

We were made for more, each of us, crafted with a divine mission and purpose.

We choose to rise and accept the challenge because of who he is, not because of who we are, or who we might become.

1 John 2:15

“Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father.”

1 John 3:17

“If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God’s love? It disappears. And you made it disappear.”
